Formatting the player????

Thanks to a very kind member here, I now have the User’s Guide to my Fuze.  The User’s Guide has instructions for “Formatting the Player.”

What does “Formatting the Player” mean?  Is this something I am supposed to do?  Or would just want to do for fun???  It never defines “formatting the player.”

I always thought I was pretty good at electronics and things, but I am starting to feel VERY stupid.

Formatting the player erases everything on the player.  It is similar in action to formatting a disk.  You do not need to do that; the player is formatted when you receive it.  Usually you would consider formatting the player only if you wanted to “start over” and discard everything on the player.
