thanks… yes i have and now waiting on a RMA number. seems to take a while.

Any update?

yes replacement arrived so all good.

I am glad to hear that.

the trick is do not format the drive. i think it deletes files in the front directory which are needed. if you have the receipt your solution is get a replacement. i couldnt get anything to work to make any computer recognise the drive as having a partition, which meant we dont have anything to work with… Sandisk are a top company so hopefully they will serve you well with the replacement.

Can you open Disk Management to further check your SD card? What status does it show?

  1. USB drive is uninitialized
If it is a new USB drive, you can simply initialize, partition, and format it. If the USB drive contains important data, you should first use a data recovery tool to recover the files you need before performing initialization.
  2. Missing drive letter
You need to assign a drive letter to the external drive using Disk Management.
Right-click the USB drive and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths…”.
Click “Add”, then select “Assign the following drive letter.”
Finally, choose an available drive letter.

This allows the Windows operating system to recognize the drive.

  1. USB drive shows unallocated space
Right-click the unallocated USB drive and select “New Simple Volume.”
Then follow the prompts to complete the process.

If the drive appears in Disk Management but shows no partitions, it usually means the partition table or file system has been corrupted. The good news is that the storage device is still being detected by the system, which means data recovery may still be possible.

First, do not format the drive, as this could overwrite recoverable data.

You can try using a recovery tool such as Stellar Photo Recovery to scan the entire drive. These tools can read the disk directly and recover photos or videos even when partitions are missing.

Install the software, select the removable disk from the list, run a deep scan, preview the found files, and save the recovered data to another drive.
