Error: [Insert] returned 0xC00D2779

I have been successfully transferring OverDrive WMA Audiobooks to my Sansa clip 2GB for over a year.  Yesterday when I tried I received the error message: Unable to transfer the selected title because [Insert] returned 0xC00D2779.  I can hear the audiobook on my PC just not transfer it to the Sansa.  I tried reformatting the Sansa and restoring the setting but it did not make a difference.

I did update my free AVG anti-virus software last week if that makes a difference?  Greatly appreciate any advice of how to fix this.

I just received the same error.  I have been transferring books to my Sansa without problem until today.

Ditto here using Sansa Clip 2GB.

OS: Windows XP Pro SP3; all updates installed. I use two portable devices:

        Sansa Clip 2GB
        RCA S2001

Never a problem…until Saturday evening, October 23.

  1. I checked out/downloaded “The Street Lawyer” (Grisham) from
    Fairfax, Va., collection. Attempted transfer to both Sansa and
    RCA–both fully charged–and failed.

For both devices I tried transfer using OverDrive app and got
this error result:

Error details: Unable to insert the selected title.
Error 0xC00D2779: The file could not be transferred because the
device clock is not set.

For both devices I tried transfer using Windows Explorer
copy/paste and got this error result:

transfer with an application that supports Media Digital Rights Management.

  1. Investigating, using Sansa Clip 2GB device only, I
  • updated device firmware from Sansa site
  • reformatted device
  • reset device
  • reinstalled OverDrive’s “Windows Media Player Security Upgrade” for Windows Media Player v11
  • reset clock using option of WMP11
  • tried setting Sansa USB mode to MTP
  • tried check out/download and transfer to portable device of different OverDrive library title (a different book)

…all to no avail. Same transfer failures as above.

  1. Additional observations:
  • on different machine [OS: Windows XP Home SP3; all updates
    installed.] repeated download of same title. Attempted transfer to portable devices failed as above.
  • last prior successful OverDrive check out/download and transfer to portable device: October 19
  • to my knowledge there have been no changes to configuration of either my Windows system or my portable devices since October 19

and…I’ve today succeeded (no problem, as always) in checking out/downloading and transferring to both Sansa Clip and RCA S2001
devices, DRM-protected books from another service I use, NetLibrary [http://www.netlibrary.com ]

Given *all* of the above, I’m inclined to think something has changed in OverDrive content since October 19, at least as I’ve seen it, except for this…

  1. Final observation.

In above testing, I actually checked out/downloaded and attempted transfer to Sansa Clip 2GB and RCA S2001 total of four OverDrive library books. Each transfer to these portable devices failed as described.

I also tried transferring the downloaded books to my wife’s Sansa Clip 4GB portable device. *All four transfers succeeded.* No problem.

Hi All,

I just had the same problem with my Sansa Fuze which I have been using with the Overdrive Console for a couple of years.

First of all, you can set the clock in the fuze through system settings, I do not know about WMP setting the fuzes clock, and I think That may not be true. Secondly, I dont think this error has anything to do with the devices clock. I think that something changed at the source. Here is why: I converted one of my downloads in WMA to an MP3, and was able to transfer and play it fine.

Ok Ill cut to the chase. Go to Settings/System Settingd/ Reset to Factory. Execute. Turn it off with slide switch. Turn on with slide switch. Again go to System Settings/ USB/ switch from auto detect to MPT/ then reformat. Restart again.

This solved the problem for me. The USB auto detect feature has never worked for me, and I think this feature is prompting this 0xC00D2779 error.

Yes if you reformat you will lose all your stuff. I reformat all the time so its not an issue with me. If it is with you, save your stuff first then reload it.

You may be able to simply go to Settings/USB/ and change back to MTP and it may solve the problem without reformatting. Try that first if you want, it may work and you have nothing to lose. I dont even use WMP, to me, it is not very intuitive.

And I feel your Pain. I absolutely LOVE my Fuze, and audiobooks. Problem is Im running out good books available at my Library.  Suggestions for alternate source are greatly appreciated. (Free of course) I think Audible is Nuts for what they charge.

I had same problem with Sansa Clip 2GB transferring OverDrive books. Below is my correspondence with OverDrive Support. Their procedure fixed problem for me. I doubt that the step of reformatting Sansa Clip was necessary, but only takes a few seconds.

I executed your procedure, then tried transferring to portable devices *existing* copies of books I’d downloaded. That failed, showing error message indicating I’d exceeded the transfer limit.

So I deleted copies of books on my machine and re-downloaded them. Then transfer to portable devices worked flawlessly.

Problem solved. Case closed.

  3. Select the ‘Home’ button and press the down arrow to navigate to the
    ‘Settings’ Screen.
  4. Press the center button.
  5. Press down arrow and select/ Highlight ‘Format’.
  6. Press center button.
  7. On Format confirmation screen select ‘Yes’.
  8. After format is complete, try to transfer an OverDrive Audio Book.

Please let us know if this corrects the error or if further assistance is
needed.

I’ve had this problem before and did again in the past few days. Just remembered how I resolved it last times, tried it again and it worked.  Try reformatting your Sansa.  It’s worked for me with 3 different Sansa Players. Good luck!
