After loadings some podcasts onto my Sandisk e250r, when I removed the USB cable, I got the normal black and white SanDisk screen, then the usual opening screen. But the latter was only there briefly - it jumped up tol the top half of the Sansa screen area and the elements were jumbled. The menus couldn’t be accessed. This has remained the situation.
I found instructions for fixing a frozen screen. The first part of that - resetting - made no difference. The second part - installing new firmware - didn’t work. I couldn’t find out the firmware version anyway, not having access to the menus. When I ran the Sansa Updater, it couldn’t see my player.
I discovered the Recovery Mode instructions. I ended up seeing, on a black background:
Further to my message above, I finally managed to get the Sansa Updater to ‘see’ my player, but after taking a look at it, it says Service Unavailable - two days in a row.
I am getting the 16Mb-FORMAT F: partition folder, and it seems I can drop the update firmware into that, and then let it do its thing. My problem is that there are two versions of this firmware and I am unable to determine which mine is using the method described, because I cannot use the menu system on my player. I do have the information about my player that appears in the 16Mb-FORMAT F: partition folder, but it is not like the information I’m supposed to be looking for. I wonder if that’s because I have the Rhapsody version?
Anyway, this is the information that I have. Does anyone know which version of the firmware would be appropriate?
