I have tried the Power Reset instructions numerous times and with several new batteries - but nothing.
Sent mail to Sandisk but keep getting back the same Power Reset instructions.
Is there anything else I can do or has it finally died!!!

Not sure what you mean by Power Reset, but is it this?
"Try taking the battery out of the Sansa. Let the Sansa sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, hold down the power button for a minute or so. The battery should not be in the player yet.
Next, put in a fresh AAA battery and try turning it on."

If you’ve already tried this, I don’t know of any other solution.
