Welcome to the Doctor’s Office! I’ve been playing with all types of Sansas for a while and would like to answer any questions that you might want to ask. I’ve set up this thread so if you have any questions about your Sansa you don’t have to be afraid to ask, feel free. I’ll do the research for you so you won’t have to. You don’t believe me? Quiz me!
Plugged in my e250 to my PC last night and it automatically detected that there’s a new firmware update ready to be uploaded onto the e250 player. Clicked on the required buttons and all seemed to have worked, last thing the PC message was to unplug the USB cable and start the e250 player. So I did… it went to the refresh database mode and it’s been stuck like this ever since. No matter what I do, tried to reset it, even removed the battery and it still didn’t work.
Lol, AlainK… this is the 3rd message I found with your same issue. Sorry it took so long for you to get a response. I left instructions here that you can try. It should work out after that, you can PM me personally if need be.
Sorry Alaink I was out of town all weekend so I didn’t get a chance to check the forums yeah what Mr.Smileyface sent you should resolve your issue. I’ll be on for the majority of the week if anything else should arise.
“Has anyone experienced the problem where your device hangs at the Sandisk logo during startup, and hangs at the Writing Bootloader line after a format or firmware update in MSD mode. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks”
I’ve experienced the player freezing at the SanDisk logo all of the time. If you’ve tried doing the format and firmware updat is Recovery/MSD mode then try this…
Powercycle:
Take the back off of the player and take the Batt. out.
Leave the batt out for about 3-4 mins after you do that hold down the powerbutton for 30secs.
After doing that, put the batt back in the MP3 player and try the Bootloader and update again.
If that doesn’t work then there might be a hardware issue and you might have to call SanDisk.
Once you are experiencing a hardware issue with any type of flash memory product it’s best to get it exchanged, most of these devices have a 1 yr warranty, check when you bought it…the MP3 player might still be under warranty that could be another option.
I’ve got one for ya. Under WMP11, our new e260 will show the songs I synced to it this morning, but does not show the songs put on by the factory. It also will not allow me to delete the songs from the device that it does show under WMP11. With WMP10, I can see all the files, including the factory ones, and delete them too. What is the story? Is this another example of MS de-evolution?

housecall55,
lol, well I don’t have an answer to why you think Microsoft is de-evolving but I can speculate the reason why you’re only seeing your songs. What MS is trying to do with WMP11 is to make WMP MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) friendly. WMP11 will only keep track of the songs that you put on your MP3 player using your computer. If you go to another computer using WMP11 you will see only those songs that you have transferred from the previous computer. WMP10 is an older program and is more ‘Removable Disk’ Friendly, meaning that you’re looking at the actual folders in your MP3 player, it’s almost like you’re accessing your MP3 player through 'My Computer. You can try putting your device in ‘MSC’ mode just to see if that makes a difference but it’s not going too. If you want to see your songs I suggest going through your MP3 player using ‘My Computer’.(Note: If you try to access your MP3 player in ‘My Computer’ using ‘MSC’ mode you might have to Show your ‘Hidden Files and Folders’) Once you have accessed your MP3 player you should be able to delete the preloaded songs or even save the ones that you like onto your computer.
