I’ve been talking to a seller on Amazon who says such exist (he’s selling one), but I’ve never seen one and I’ve bought a *lot* of e280’s - anybody know the yes/no answer, and if yes, hopefully the history?
There are indeed some that were marketed to certain countires in Europe that did not have the FM radio chip installed.
Aha, the light dawns. The seller did not mention it was not US, and I have never had to do with a non-US model. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.
If I remember correctly, sometimes it was just different firmware–the chip was there, but deactivated. You could try installing All Regions firmware and see if it appears. But there were also units without the tuner at all.
