i loathe this company and i loathe this product. there’s no easy way to find firmware for this product, and the pages i did find didn’t make it clear which one i was supposed to install
turns out installing the wrong one completely bricks the product, AND erases the tens of gigs of data on it. the instructions don’t include backing the entire thing up before attempting to update the firmware
so now i’m out a product i paid for, and ALL of my music library, including very rare tracks that were difficult to acquire
what can be done to unbrick my device, and is there a way to recover my files?

I’ve faced a similar issue with firmware updates bricking devices. First, check if the manufacturer offers a recovery mode or a way to reinstall the correct firmware, which might restore the device to a working state. For data recovery, use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to scan for lost files on the device. Recuva is another good tool for retrieving deleted or lost data. If the device is completely unresponsive, contacting the manufacturer’s support for recovery options or professional repair services might be necessary.
