clip problems

My clip now won’t let me modify the drive at all.

I owned the clip for a couple of months, worked fine, updated the firmware, no problems. Then one day I turn it on and it laggs right before the “refresh database”, and when it shuts off at the “goodbye” screen. My clip has also now reverted back to the 18a firmware without me doing anything. ???

In MSC mode I can’t modify/delete any document or an error. I can’t delete music through the clip itself, and I can’t remove or add music from my computer. chkdsk, sansa updater, and drag/drop the firmware doesn’t work. It still plays music fine, but the screen flashes, and the drive is acting like its ‘read only’ which I don’t see why?

in a rush, so sorry if this doesn’t make sense, any help is appresated, thanks.

If the firmware is 18a, and you’ve selected “automatically update” on the Sansa Firmware Updater, it should catch the problem, and give you a copy of the 1.01.20 FW.  You can manually check as well.

It sounds like your firmware is corrupted.  As listed in the stickies, I’d recommend formatting the device and loading the 1.01.20 firmware- a clean slate.

Bob

i’ve tried all that, thats the problem it, my computer can’t format the drive, it fails every time FAT16/32 or w/e

edit:

i bought for $10, with help of best buy gift cards so Im about to take a hammer to it

if the format fails eeverytime (and on different computers), its probably defective.

Get it replaced at the Pop (place of purchase), if not an option, get it replaced via SanDisk.

thats too much work, i buy something else, its w/e
my friends betted me $20, to smash it with a hammer amyway, so thanks anyways guys!

Its Hammer time!
Can’t touch this!

I hate having to get up and walk around too. Its a horrible inconvenience.

just fyi, they send you a pre-paid shipping label. You just drop it off and they mail you a new one.

thanks for the sarcasm Enqima …

its not the walking, it’s the fact that im away at college so where I bought it is 1.5 hours away, and the time it would take to get a replacement that would mess up again, I’d rather not waste my time, and I’ll just buy another brand

even if my sansa is a lemon, i’m a true DIY person, to not be able to fix the problem myself is enough of an annoyance to smash it with hammer

man these forums are stiff,
