Hi, first of all I want to say I’m pretty happy with my clip+ 2gb so far. However I’ve been using it with a 16gb card and it doesn’t seem to pick up all the songs/albums for an artist(or more, don’t know yet), but I can still find and play the files using the folder browser option. The files have proper ID3 tags, I’ve also checked for songs in the “unknown artist” category and I can’t seem to find them.
What can I do to make them show up in the regular music library?
I’d check the ID3 tags again with a utility like the free MP3TAG. I’ll be you find some of them are not the ‘proper’ format ( ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 ), or they have strange or foreign characters somewhere, or the Comments field of the tag is full of garbage.
Well I tried that, this is what mp3tag shows about those files:

As you can see it says they’re ID3v2.3, no word about ISO-8859-1 though. How would I check for that?
Click on the settings button (Options dialogue…)
Under Tags
click Mpeg
change the write ID3v2 bubble from the default of UTF-16 to the ISO-8859-1
I see you also have ‘YEAR 2004’ in the Comments field. Sansa players are particularly sensitive to anything in the Comments field of the ID3 tags.
As this information is not necessary, nor displayed on the screen during playback, I’d delete it. I’d also delete (or use the <blank> option in the Comments drop-down box) for all your files.
Dont forget to hit the SAVE icon.

Thanks for replying, but I still haven’t solved this issue. The clip is definitely recognizing them, but now I realized that its grouping them like they were two different artists, even though I just rewrote all the files to make sure there were no differences! I changed it the id3 tags to the ISO standard too, and I also selected blank in the comments section. I am really baffled.

There aren’t multiple audio formats present here, are there? Like maybe you have some .mp3 files and also some .wma (or .ogg or .flac) by the same artist?
Each different file type will be represented in the Artist lists, resulting in multiple entires if, in fact you have more than one music format.
I have the same problem. In MS Windows x64, transfer the files across (in MTP mode) and the Sansa+ doesn’t pick up any of the ID3 tags.
But transfer the files over in MSC mode, everything works fine.
Also the folders I transfer files into show up under the MUSIC subfolder correctly.
Where as in MTP mode, they didn’t show up properly under the MTP > Music folder.
Same files, been using them on my old Sansa Clip for years, so it’s not a problem with the files.
