Clip not found

Hi,

I just bought a Sansa Clip today at Best Buy for $50.00. I came home and tried it out. I plugged it into my USB and nothing shows up. I read the directions and went to “My Computer,” and all it said was in was the SanDisk CD.

In other words, my computer wont pick up my Sansa Clip.  I am using all of the sufficient statistics needed on my computer for it to work, but nothing is happening. I decided to pay an extra $7 for a 2-year warranty, which may prove to be worth it, but I decided to ask here first.

Does anyone have a tip on how to get it to pick up?

First try connecting in MSC mode to verify communications.

On the Clip: Settings > USB Mode > MSC.  Plug in, and see if the Clip shows up in Windows Explorer (My Computer) as a flash drive.

If you’re just going to drag and drop MP3 files to your device, simply drag them to the Music folder.

If you are going to use MTP mode (needed for subscription media), we can repair that next.

Did you try it without the CD in? The CD’s for my Fuze and Clip are still in the boxes.

Um, how do I do this?

I only the see the little play now options, and all that.

Sorry, I’m dumb when it comes to music players. It’s gonna be like teaching me how to walk again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Marvin_Martain: I tried that now. Still nothing. :(

Does the Clip appear when you open up Windows Media Player?

Did you right-click “My Computer” and then select “Explore” to review the drives your computer is detecting?

Maybe you could try re-booting your computer and THEN plugging in your Clip, or else turn your computer off for about 5 minutes - go get a cup of coffe, then come back, fire it up and try it all again. I think that sometimes Windows just gets a little “meshugenna” ( I think that’s a Yiddish word that means ‘confused’) when it comes to exterior drives.

I’ve noticed that once in a while my office computer won’t recognize my Sansa Cruzer, but my home computer does and other people’s computers at work will, too. When that happens I try a different computer - usually that works. I’ll dump all my files on this other computer and then e-mail them to myself. Then I’ll reformat my Cruzer on my work computer, copy all my files back on from my e-mail and I’m good to go.
