Clip Display Weak.

Hi all,

I have a 1GB Clip that is several months old. Perfect performance until yesterday.

All of a sudden, the Clip’s display brightness is about 30%; but the control is set at full (100%). The display will only come on when hooked up to the computer or to a wall wart power supply. When it is on battery power, the display will not light up at all; though music will play, it is sporadic.

I tried to update the firmware manually (drag & drop) into the Clip but I can not do that. The Clip won’t allow it. The Clip has .29 version of firmware on it already.

Do I just contact Sansa Support or what?

Perhaps try a system reset (on switch in uppermost position for 15 or more seconds)?  Followed by a reformat and firmware reapplication, if possible?

I tried the reset and I was able to put the firmware back on.

But the display is still FUBARed.

Sansa Support time?

it seems like organic materials in your Sansa Clip disp. gone bad

Yep, sounds so.  That’s the bad news–the good is that you get a new Clip, under the warranty.

Thanks,

I actually called support yesterday. And they were helpful by approving an RMA for the device.

So, I am happy.
