Clip+ 8GB with Samsung 16GB Micro SD card FROZEN!

My son recently purchased a Samsung 16GB microSD card and wanted to surprise me.  Put it in the Clip+ and now it is frozen.  The computer doesn’t recognize it.  Tried holding the power button several times.  Will turn off but when I try to turn it on again it gets as far as the little flower and freezes again.  I’ve tried looking at the other posts, but as you can tell from this post, I am NOT a techie… some of the language goes right over my head.

Is my Clip dead?  Or is there something I can do?  I saw mention of downloading firmware but that can’t happen if my computer is not recognizing the  device.  So on my table is the Clip, the SD card is out and I have no music.

Please help me!

Thanks.

Here’s a thought …

Have you attempted to do the firmware & software update without the SD card installed?

I also have the Clip + with a Sandisk 16GB card and haven’t had an issue …    Maybe it’s just a bad SD .

Thanks for the suggestion, but the device won’t move past the flower whether or not the card is in it.  Since it won’t turn on, my computer doesn’t recognize it and I can’t do anything with firmware or software.

Please somebody help me.  I know this device can work with the 16GB card.

To get the computer to recognize the player, you’ll have to “force MSC mode”.

With the player off, press and hold the center button while you connect the player to the computer.  Keep holding down the center button until the computer recognizes the player.

If you already have the lastest firmware, you’ll have to reinstall it manually.  You can download a zipped copy of the firmware here.  Download the “firmware for all regions”.

Then right-click on the zipped folder and select “extract all” or “unzip”.   After the file has been unzipped/extracted ,  copy and paste the clppa.bin file into the player’s internal memory.   Safely remove the player from the computer and the player should update the firmware.  Hopefully, that will be enough to unfreeze the player.

You mentioned holding the power button several times. How long? To reset the player, you need to press and hold the power button a minimum of 15 secs. and in some case up to a minute or so if it’s really jammed up.
