Clip + 4G randomly skips songs

I bought it last night. Put some songs on it.

Went running this morning and the songs skip randomly. Meaning it just goes to the next song, plays it for some time, goes to next one.

I though may be i am hitting “next” by accident, so I moved it to the brim of my hat. Same result.

Started holding it in my hand - same story…

I searched the forums for few hours, but not much help.

Thoughts?

Update: The songs are cut off at around 3:00 ± few seconds…

The files may be corrupted at the point at which it slips to the next one. Maybe you could tell us something about them (source, format, bit-rate, transfer mode, etc.)?

You can also use ChkDsk (command-line utility) or Windows Error-Checking to check for (and hopefully fix) errors in the files.

I think I figured it out. I used a M4P converter to convert from M4a on iTunes to MP3 and “free” version cuts it to 3MB and 3min play time. All normal MP3 files play just fine - there is nothing wrong with the player.

I know its for a different thread, but is there a free converter for Mac to get from iTunes to MP3?

Well, that would do it alright.

iTunes will convert to .mp3 for you, although remember any time you’re converting one lossy format to another, the sound quality is going to go down.

There are numerous posts here that explain how; here’s one.
