my 4gb sansa does not play through the aux connection on my '09 Toyota. An old Sony Walkman tape player does so the connector and system are working. Any help is appreciated.

Set your EQ to “Normal” and turn the volume all the way up, and see if that helps:smiley:
Bullseye. Works fine now. Thank you.
No problem!
Well, actually it’s a problem. I have this issue also (also in a Toyota). You see, if you are riding in the car, listening and you set your volume all the way up, and then you aren’t thinking clearly and you pull out the plug, then the car reverts to “FM” and the volume will be so high that you will scare the life out of your passengers and possibly injure your children’s ears. This can hardly be an “accepted” solution. Is there anything like a battery-operated (or car-lighter-powered) pre-amplifier that can be purchased to keep in the car to make the level of the sansa the same as that of the other inputs? Thanks.

We’re talking about turning the Clip’s volume all the way up, not the car radio’s volume.
As the other poster said, turn the volume of the Clip all the way up, not the car’s volume.
But, in my case, my '07 Camry seems to remember the volume for each input separately, so even if I turn up Aux up to 40 or something, when I hit FM or CD, it goes back down to 10 or whatever it was on those before, and then goes back to 40 for Aux when I switch back again.
So, Toyota was thinking when they designed this system. It’s the factory audio with navigation. I would assume that it’s the same for later year models as well.

Maybe this is the case but more likely, it defaults to a certain volume setting for each source, in my Chevy, it will remember the volume for the Aux, or the CD or FM when I use them all in one trip, but once I shut the car or the radio off it defaults back to a lower setting. Some I have seen have options for setting the auto volume but I know mine doesnt.
