Cant retrieve my files on my Private Access

I have the Extreme SSD that I bought years ago. It has the Private Access Vault that the support ended in December. Now I cant open up my files even after using the SanDisk app. How will I be able to retrieve and view my files? Pls help

Why can’t you access the PrivateAccess vault? What is the error message? Although PrivateAccess is no longer supported, it should still open the Vault unless there is something wrong with the vault or drive itself. The SANDISK App supports the PrivateAccess Vault, but will not open if there is a problem with the Vault itself or the drive.

It wont let me log in. Its giving me an error that my username and password are in orrect but there’s no option to reset

OK, this normally means the password is not correct or there is a problem with the drive like an I/O Error or something. have you checked the drive for errors? If the password is incorrect, there is no way to reset it. The only option is if you set the password hint when setting up the vault.

Repairing the Vault only fixes the index file, but it’s something to try as well.

If you still have the password, don’t panic just yet. The files are most likely still on the SSD, but they’re encrypted inside the PrivateAccess Vault and can only be viewed after the vault is unlocked.

I’d first check whether you can see the vault file or folder on the drive. If it’s there, avoid reformatting the SSD or making any changes to it. Try opening the vault on another computer as well, especially if you’re using a newer piece of Windows or macOS, since compatibility issues can sometimes prevent PrivateAccess from working properly.

A few questions:

  1. Do you still know the vault password?
  2. Are you using Windows or Mac?
  3. What happens when you try to open the vault? Do you get an error message?
