Can Sansa m250 recharge rechargeable alkaline battery or not?

Hi, I’m a newbie and I was reading some post on that subject and some say the m250 won’t recharge batteries. How can that be? I purchased this unit on Amazon and some of the reviews were saying that this player was great because of the AAA batteries and were rechargeable with the USB cable.

What am I doing wrong? I plugged it for several hours and overnight and nothing.

Please help. I really don’t want to buy a $20. battery charger.

Im like 99% sure that the unit will NOT charge rechargeable batteries…I use them alot and it has never charged them.  always did it manually with a external charger.

I would have to agree, if the unit could charge then it would always try to charge regular batteries which would cause them to blow up.
