Hi there,
I pray there is a way to retrieve my data and it isn’t lost because I’m in tears over this from the stress.
Every time I plug this USB into my laptop, it freezes Windows Explorer, also freezes various software I open, like virus or malware to check if it’s infected (which again, it’s like the USB is blocking access).
If I try to open data recovery software it either freezes that or it doesn’t show up in the list of devices to scan. Upon initial scan with Recuva which I strangely could access upon fresh install of it but now can’t I think it recognised the drive because it told me there were over 27000 images in the one drive (it said scanning 14 drives even though this was the only thing plugged into laptop) Anyway upon completion it told me something like:
“Failed to scan hard disk volume 2 unable to determine file system type”
So, I tried to Quick Format it to give it a file system, but it just “buffer circle” freezes and won’t let me access Format or anything. It won’t even let me access Disk Management to see if it shows there. I also plugged it into another port on my own Laptop and then on another Laptop, I could access the “Format”, but it just loads and doesn’t do anything.
Also tried Command Prompts with the drive using /f /r and so on and it gives me nothing to work with in the CMD unit, no feedback at all.
It just randomly did this one day, took forever loading the last time but loaded and now it won’t whatsoever and I’m freaking out. Windows Explorer is recognising it as Removable Disk (E:) but it isn’t showing the capacity or how much room of that capacity is left.
Surely if Recuva detected my files, what I believe it did? There’s hope I can still get to them, right?
