Another Dead Clip!

Are there any other fixes after the 15 second reset or the hold down center button while plugging in USB tricks?

I noticed on other sites that people think their USB port is dead, which seems like my problem as well. I have e-mailed tech support (24 hours ago) and still no response.

Any ideas?

  1. Try other USB ports on your computer.
  2. Try a different USB cable.  Some have found that just the cable was bad.
  3. If you have other USB devices connected to your computer try unplugging all of them and then plug in the Clip.

you need to detail “dead” a bit more.

  • if your player is low in battery, it should still turn on and display battery low, than off. This is solvable.

  • if your player is actually bricked, than you need to return or exchange, since this is not solvable.

Thanks. None of those help either though.

Again, define “Dead” please

Does it turn ON when connected to USB, but shut off immediately upon disconnection? = Bad Battery

Does it do NOTHING when plugged into USB? = Hard Failure, Clip is truly dead

Either case = contact Sansa for warranty replacement

Yes- It does nothing when plugeed in or not plugged in. When I have contacted Sansa support, they have tried to get me to download new firmware. I don’t think it will work unless it is Frankenstein firmware.

Thanks for the direction.

Frankenstein firmware LMAO…but first make sure you have covered ALL the bases:

You need to apply a dab of Voodoo Butter to the USB jack, then connect it to the Clip, then drop the other end of the USB cable into a toaster along with a Cherry Pop-Tart, then press and hold the toast lever DOWN until the problem is…solved

Try calling Sansa again and demand Level 2 support or something along those lines - tell them you are an advanced user, and the Voodoo Butter didn’t work :smileyvery-happy:
