AA battery powered mp3 player with AM/FM HD radio and full sized SDXC card slot

How about it? Time for an exciting new player!

Yeah . . . fat chance.

Okay, if not a AA battery, then an easily swappable, easy to find, inexpensive lithium ion battery and a wall charger to charge the battery outside the player. It would also be nice if the player has an aluminum, titanium, or magnesium case. I am tired of all this plastic stuff.

“Easy to find” means this has to stem from the battery industry coming up with a standard flat (polymer) lithium battery intended to run across a variety of gizmos… like a pair of AA’s has been in the past.   There are standard cylindrical cells, but I don’t think Sansa will ever consider using them on an mp3 player.

the battery issue…i have a conceptronic cbtgps gps receiver, it uses a nokia compatible flat battery…so, it´s possible using a “standarized” swappable battery.

I must chime in on this one, the Nokia BL-5C battery module is brilliant.  If we could use something in this form factor, I would be a happy camper.

Along the same line of thought, if you look at the form factor of the Nokia 2610, most notably the rear cover and battery bay, you’ll see some nice engineering.

Let’s think a moment, this is a music player, yes?  If a telephone survives the bashing about that it does, what’s so inherently wrong with applying the same common sense to a music player?

Oh, and HD radio?  Another attack of common sense.  I like it too.
