I have a Sansa Clip and I don’t know if it’s charging or not but it shows writing/connecting when I first plug it into the usb port but then it stays on connected with just the yellow battery bar not moving. Does this mean it’s not charging? I’ve had it plugged in since 7am this morning but still it says battery low. Please help!!
Its not charging. Try another port on the PC, also update to WMP11.

Lost all your songs, where? On the player?
If its WMP11, your library should be imported. Transferring all the songs to the player should be fairly fast as well. My guess is its connecting in MTP mode now, so you dont see the songs that may have been transferred in MSC mode? If thats the case,m just reformat the player and start over. Also , update the firmware its your best bet.
