won't turn on, when connect to computer get message: you need to format the disk...

My Clip+ stopped playing mid-song this morning.  The battery was fully charged before, so I don’t think that was the issue.  I couldn’t get the player to turn on so I tried to do a hard reset (holding power button and one with the home looking icon).  It still won’t turn on.  Now when I plug it into the computer I get the following Windows message (running 7 Pro):

You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it.  Do you want to format it?

If I select yes I can use the following file system: FAT, NTFS, or exFAT.  There is also an option to restore device defaults.

Any suggestions on what to do next?  I like the player, but I’m not super tech savvy.

Thanks,

Adam

if you format the device --you will lose all—all data— but if you restore to factory settings —that mite work—try it and see–of course you mite try a diff computer–

You need to do a regular reset. Normally pressing the power bouuton for 20 seconds will do it, but if it’s stubborn try ti for up to a minute or so.
