Will this AC USB Charger work with (and not damage) the Clip?

Hi,

Please check the link at: Clip USB Charger

Other information is:

-Input: AC110-220V 50/60Hz
-Output: DC 5.0V DC200mA-300mA

Will it work with the clip?

Thanks.

A good question.  All I would say is to be extremely careful.  It appears that many of these chargers are being supplied by a variety of vendors and suppliers; some work as designed, some don’t.

I think it’s more a quality control issue, more than anything else, because 2 people can have the same unit…and one fries the clip and the other works flawlessly.

300mA is a bit low, I think.  A powered PC USB port can put out 500mA. If it will charge at all, it could take a long time to reach full charge.

I have a AC USB adaptor which I use whenever I want to charge my player and I never had any problem so far. However, as said fuze_owner-GB it might work flawlesly for me and fry your player. So just think about the risks that this decision might come with.

I have used my motorolla cell phone charger with my clip with no problems. It would seem silly to include this charge/play mode if it wasn’t meant to be used. It would be nice if someone from SANSA could definitively answer this question? Are clips and fuzes meant to be charged while being used via an adapter, and what sorta of adapter is ideal (ma rating, etc)???

The Belkin Charge Kit is sold as a Sansa accessory in the Sansa Store, and says it will work with the Fuze, c200, e200, View, or Connect. (omitting mention of the clip)

Sansa reps. have said previously that an AC adapter is fine.  Should be 5V (more can blow the Clip out); amperage can be a higher rating as the Clip will take what it needs–I’d go around 500mA or above (a bit lower is fine).

You’re right–it would be nice if adapters would say they are Clip-compliant.  But they just don’t tend to say so.

Thank you for the answer. Perhaps this question belongs in the FAQ?
