Where did the music go?

First, thanks to tapeworm for solving my “writing” problem.  Now I synced a bunch of music with windows media player(11) and it looked like it went to the clip+.  under “info” it shows 1 gig of memory left and 0 songs.  When I try to play music it says “no songs.”  The clip+ is pretty small, where did the 2-3 gigs of music I synced go?  Radio works fine and firmware is v01.02.16a.

Are the songs in a format the player supports?  Are you sure they weren’t put in the audiobooks or podcasts folder? assuming you have copies of what is on the player on your pc,  format the player using the player’s menu(settings, system settings, format) which will delete all the files on the player. If your files aren’t protected, then set the usb mode on the player(settings, system settings, usb mode, to MSC. If you do have protected files, then set it to MTP instead. Use Windows Explorer to copy and paste folders of music to the player.

I reformated the clip.  I went to MSC, instead of auto.  I opened win exp and decided there has to be a better way than copying and pasting 1000s of songs.  Unfortunately, I don’t know what that better idea is.  The forum seems to be anti-sync.  Ideas appreciated.

When you copy-and-paste songs into the player, do they show up?  Is it only when you use WMP 11 that the songs don’t show?

  1. Open up My Music folder on your computer.
  2. Edit > Select All (Ctrl + A).
  3. Edit > Copy to Folder . . .
  4. Navigate to Music folder on device (or memory card).
  5. Click Copy Button.

Done. Less steps and time than trying to set up a sync through WMP. There is no better way (at least in my humble opinion).

Thanks for sharing useful information…

Tapeworm, again thanks for the great info.  Is there a way in between dragging one song at a time and copying the whole library?  Maybe a way to drag 20-30 songs at a time to speed up the process and still be selective?  Also is there a way to, say, randomly fill add 2 gigs of music?

Thanks
