Itunes won’t work with the Fuze. The Fuze connects to your pc in two separate ways, MSC or MTP. MTP allows the use of protected files and allows synching with Windows Media Player. MSC is mass storage mode. Your player shows up on your pc as a storage drive, and if there is a card in the player, the card memory shows up as a separate drive. When connected in MSC mode only music transferred to the player in MSC mode shows up on the pc as being on the player. When in MTP mode only music transferred in the MTP mode will show as being on the player on your pc screen.  On the player itself, both music transferred in MTP and MSC mode are accessable. In MSC mode you can change the album tag or other tags directly. In MTP mode, you need to make the changes to tags on your pc, delete those files on the player, then copy them to the player again.

The general advice is to use MSC if you aren’t using protected music, and don’t need to synch your player. In MSC mode, files can be dragged and dropped to the player using Windows Explorer, my computer, etc. You don’t need to use Windows Media Player at all will your Fuze, unless you want to transfer protected music or make certain playlists. There may be other playlists that can be made in MSC mode. I don’t use playlists though, so I don’t really know about them.

I just got one and found it quite easy to transfer files from Itunes to the fuze with Mac OSX. You just open a finder window with the folder you want to put the file into and then drag and drop the music file or podcast from iTunes.

MP3tag is a program that can mass edit info much more efficiently than itunes. Also, if you can’t sync, not use MSC mode?

Yes this works fine on a PC too and would probably be the easiest method for someone familiar with itunes.

Mediamonkey is similar to itunes in a lot of ways and will sync to a sansa device if that’s of interest.

Songbird is also very much similar to iTunes, moreso than MM, and you can get it, and any other media program here: http://www.filehippo.com/
