usb flash drive sandisk "Cruzer Facet Silver" 16gb: too small copy speed, from hdd to usb

Device: usb flash drive sandisk “Cruzer Facet Silver” 16gb.

First, I have format it in Windows XP SP3, “fast format”.

The copy speed to usb drive is 2.7 Mb/s only.

Why?

What was it before you changed it’s structure?

What was it before you changed it’s structure?

Because:

  • in “new” conditions, it had files, and I have no use these files never.

  • these files are not similar to files on site sandisk.com, section support.

  • I have no need in 128-bit AES encryption.

  • after read documentation (on the packaging and on the website), I have no any information about the inadmissibility of formatting by windows standart utility.

  • at sandisk.com section support, I didn’t find any utility for format usb flash drive sandisk “Cruzer Facet Silver”.

You were not able to delete the files/folders with Windows Explorer?

_"__- after read documentation (on the packaging and on the website), I have no any _information about the inadmissibility of formatting by windows standart utility."

Did you find any documentation advising you to format it??

I suspect the drive is low end and not very fast by design but I don’t have one so I can’t say for certain.  The changing from a floppy format to a partition format may not be impacting the speed but without before and after tests it’s hard to say for sure.

Contact SanDisk Tech Support and see what they suggest at this point.

“What was the copy speed before you formated it?”
I didn’t monitor copy speed before I format it.

“You were not able to delete the files/folders with Windows Explorer?”
oh, no, because:

  • I am sure, there are different cleverly hidden files. These files are not been deleted by Windows Explorer.

  • The antivirus, avira home personal, “didn’t like” any files at usb drive (2 files in root folder, .exe and .inf). So, these files was blocked by antivirus.

  • There are several .exe files at usb drive - it’s suspicious…

“Did you find any documentation advising you to format it??”
No, I have no find any documentation advising me to format it.
*And* I have no find any documentation advising me do not format it.
