Hi; I have 1 GB Sansa Express. I am trying to install the latest firmware. The firmware that came with the player is 01.01.01A. I am using HP Pavilion laptop with XP (SP2).
I downloaded and installed Sansa Updater. the updater icon is on the taskbar.
When I insert the player into USB port, the little dog on the player display starts moving left and right. the display shows it is charging. The updater does not update the player. When I click the updater icon, I see that " Check the updates automatically" is checked. But nothing else is happens. When I click “Check for updates now”, A small window pops up on the screen and gives me the following warning: There is no internet connection. Fix the problem and try again.
I use Sprint pc card with my laptop for wireless connection. Since I live in the rural area, I have no choice but a wireless pc card for my fast internet connection.
I have no problem using the card and browsing the web.
Some folks here suggest that I contact sansa support and request update files. I wish these files would be at Sansa Express’ web site so that I could download, and move them into my player.
This is getting weird!. After closing my Mozilla Firefox browser, I started again. I plugged the player into usb port, and clicked the updater icon. The software somehow started the process, and told me that there is no available update.
I tried this twice with the same result.
Hopefully, from now on everything will be okay.
Stepk, did the f.w update for you then? If not, ya you can call sandisk for the files, or you could try to uninstall the SFU and reinstall it in case of a bad install on the first go.
Same step can be taken for you prupledog. See if that helps. If not, start another thread pls so I don’t get you guys confused
