Changing from USB 3 to a USB 2 port worked for me as well, no more error message.
I have your solution. First, access the file RunSanDiskSecureAccess_Win in explorer located on the drive. Then, right click and goto properties. Next, click the second top tab; compatibility options. Check the run in xp mode. click apply, ok, close out, then double click the file RunSanDiskSecureAccess_Win and run the program as normal.
I had the same problem. I ended up trying all my USB Ports and found one that worked. It installed and everything seems to be working fine now. Try it
I have a sandisk 64GB and ran into the same problem with my windows 10 OS. After hours of messing with it and trying a bunch of different things I finally got my working. I deleted the vault and went to :
and downloaded the update directly. After it downloaded, I moved it to my thumb drive, clicked on it, and voila… it worked!!!
Hope this helps anyone else looking for a solution.
Hello I downloaded SecureAccess for Windows (version 1) but it says “Use SanDisk SecureAccess from an external SanDisk device”. I know there are a never version 2 and 3, but I need this version because I have files encrypted with this version. I am running from a sandisk USB 3 stick on windows 11. How to fix this problem?
Are you running the SecureAccess download from the USB drive? Didn’t the new drive come with SecureAccess installed on the drive?
How did the encrypted files get on the USB drive? Did you copy the encrypted files from an old drive to the new drive? That won’t work.
Hello, thank you for answering.
Are you running the SecureAccess download from the USB drive?
yes
Didn’t the new drive come with SecureAccess installed on the drive?
No. My old USB stick (2017?) came with SecureAccess installed, then I backed up the content, and lost that drive. Now I have a new USB stick from SanDisk that I am trying to use to restore the files.
How did the encrypted files get on the USB drive?
See above.
Did you copy the encrypted files from an old drive to the new drive? That won’t work.
Yes. Why it won’t work?
Part of the encryption is based on the location of the files on the drive. The odds of copying the encrypted files from one drive to the same block on another drive is impossible.
To have backed up your important files is excellent but backing them up requires they be unencrypted first.
