Trouble resetting Fuze 8GB to original factory settings

I am trying to reset my Fuze to its Factory Settings, but it won’t go. Reason why? Ever since I tried to sync it with WMP to make my playlists through WMP, instead of manually, it has been acting quirky and glitchy, and won’t let me make playlists (through sync’ing or manually). So I want it like it was out of the box, and a fresh and clean install of my media files. I have formatted my Fuze through the System Settings (and I have also reformatted my 8GB MicroSDHC card), and then I tried to Restore the Factory settings, but nothing happens. What I did: Settings >>> System Settings >>> Reset Factory Settings >>> Choose “Yes” (then goes to Language, I choose mine, and then goes to Region, I choose mine) and then nothing… What’s going on? The battery is at least 94% full (when I try), my MicroSDHC card is not installed (but tried it with it installed/plugged in), same thing happens either way, my Info V01.02.31A, says Memory 7806MB (7643MB Free). Appreciate any advice, Thanks Dagtall

What are you expecting to happen? It did exactly what it’s supposed to do. The fact that it asked you to reset the Language and Region settings proves it reset it to Factory Defaults.

You mean I don’t get fireworks and a parade?!?!? JK There is no confirmation message, like when you restore windows? Just happens so quickly, I guess I expected it to take a little longer to restore?

The name aside, it’s not really the same as restoring Windows. When you restore Windows, the process copies tons of system files and deletes many others. When you “restore” a Sansa, it simply erases one file that contains the settings you’ve selected that differ from the defaults.

For the fuze, manually reinstalling the firmware is more like restoring windows, except you get to kept your media that’s already on the player.  It refreshes or replaces the operating files of the player and can get rid of any glitches, odd behavior and devilish gremlins.

Manually reinstalling the firmware will get you a nice message, but still no fireworks nor parades.
