To delete unwanted files and documents from the Video folder.
To delete unwanted files and documents with coded abbreviation, acronyms and encryption characters on them out of the main Video folder in the data folder from my SanDisk Sansa e200 v.1. The problem is these unwanted files and documents do not delete. My question to you please! is ……why not? And what is the solution to this problem? A message keeps appearing on the screen saying; “Error Deleting file or folder – Cannot delete files - Cannot read from the source file or disk”. I have tried many ways and attacks in trying to solve this problem, but without any luck or progress. Can you help me there with this problem… perhaps? :womanwink:
First off, Welcome to the forum!
Secondly, and this is only a suggestion, but the way your Subject title reads implies that you are posting a solution to this problem, not asking for help with it.
Thirdly (and most important) . . . At the top of the 1st page on this board you’ll find a number of shaded posts. These are called ‘stickies’ (because they are ‘stuck’ there and never move). One of these is titled Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). There is a wealth of information here, including the answer/solution to your question/problem.
Specifically, you have corrupted files. Try running ChkDsk to find (and fix) the corrption. This is discussed in FAQ #9 & #12 under General FAQs. Depending on the level of corruption, this may or may not work. But it may still be necessary to repair the files to the point where they can be deleted.
After this (and again, depending on the level of damage/corruption), you may need to format your player to remove everything. In fact, I would probabley recommend it. You can do with with Windows in MSC mode, or since you have a v1 unit, you can use the Recovery Mode and ‘sansa.fmt’ file method. Be advised though, that formatting will erase all user-installed content (not firmwware) so you will have to completely re-load your player afterwards.
Hope this helps!
PS - I see you posted this also in the Other SanDisk Products board, probably in error. If you go back to that post and click on the ‘Options’ in the upper right-hand corner of the post itself, you’ll see an option to delete it. This is where this post should be.
Hello Sansa Guru - Tapeworm,Thank you! Very much for your cordial welcomeness and enthusiastic e-mail reply, which I have received from you early on this evening, concerning my question that I had sent to you today. ( In delete unwanted files and documents with coded abbreviation, acronyms and encryption characters on them out of the main Video folder in the data folder from my SanDisk Sansa e200 v.1. )I have only a few minutes to reply quickly to you, because I am heading just away for a one week holiday at this moment of time, and I have just time to say that: your last suggestion seem to be the best solution to this problem; “you may need to format your player to remove everything’’ This suggestion for me to format my player is not a hard choice for me. The reason is that I keep my SanDisk Sansa e200 4GB v.1. quite slim in memory data content in the device and I am always using my 2GB microchip SD memory cards full with media data and also I will have only to download my RockBox firmware back. I shall let you know next week sometime the out come out of the progress of this problem. Until than thank you! Tapeworm.
