I updated my Fuze (version 01.[something].11) to version 01.[something].22A. After the firmware update, my music list was reduced from around 350 to 50 flat. Do I have to re-transfer all of the songs to the device again? What happened?
Where are you viewing this? On the fuze itself? or in Windows? If it is windows, unplug from the computer and see what your fuze says. What I would suggest (As much as it sounds like a PITA) is to do first do a soft reset by sliding the power swith up and holding it for 15-20 seconds. If this doesnt help, go in to the fuze thru Windows explorer and delete the file called mtable.sys and then restart the fuze and let it rebuild the directory. If this doesnt help then Format the fuze using its internal format option (Settings> System Settings> Format), and reload the songs.

When its connected to your computer look in the music folder of the Fuze and see if they are still there. Report back what you find. Cheers,

Niko, The thing about windows is that after the firmwire upgrade you may revert to the Auto Defect (As Tapeworm calls it) which on most PCs means MTP mode, so if 50 of 350 songs were loaded in MTP mode then all windows will show you is those 50 songs. When the fuze is in MTP you cant see songs added in MSC mode and Vise Versa. Disconnecting it from windows and going to Settings> System Settings> Info and then looking for number of songs is a better way to make sure that all the files are actually on theres.

Yes, i know, thats why i asked him to report back what he found. Trying to explain MTP vs MSC mode was just too much to explain at 1:46 in the morning :) LOL I guess i could just tell him to format and reload all the songs, and skip anything confusing :P but i wouldn’t do that as a first step
Thanks, Cheers
edit: Yes the system info is a great way to verify if the songs exist

I just use the search engine, and then copy and paste it most times. Its 3 Am where I am and thats just easier.
Scratch that. The stupid firmware update just made it so that the ‘Recently Added’ list was cut to 50, rather than including all the songs. I (belatedly) found all my songs still in the ‘Play All’ section.
In my panic, I used WMP (per ConversionBox’s suggestion regarding my previous question) and *synched close to my entire library* to the Fuze. Now I have duplicate songs all over (over 350, actually) to delete.

---- And because there are now so many songs, deleting them takes longer… great (serves me right for not checking things out more thoroughly, I guess).

You can use Explorer to delete the duplicates a bit faster. And I couldnt tell from your post if WMP did it or you did but make sure the Autosync is off in WMP.
*I* did it (at least when opening the application, I was greeted with a pop-up to synchronize the Fuze with the library, and I chose ‘Finish’).
just close that window, it can cause things to happen that you dont want to happen, or if you cant just close it choose take no action.
