The Tango Digital Media Platform message refers to the PortalPlayer microprocessor that is the heart of the e200 series Sansa players. If you receive this message, what it’s referring to is the firmware or operating system for your player is missing or corrupted.
Reinstall the v1 version firmware (the later device with AustriaMicrosystems processor will NOT give you this message).
You will connect using Recovery Mode. Be SURE that you do NOT attempt to use the Windows format command while connected, ONLY use the steps in the following thread.
First, a brief note. I don’t have the original post on hand tonight, but let’s have a go at it…
Start with the e200 turned OFF. On the top of the device is the HOLD switch, slide it to the right (orange showing). Now the tricky part. Press and continue holding the REC button on the left side while plugging in your USB cable. The device should turn on in Recovery Mode. Remember! Do not attempt to format the device using Windows while connected!
Here is the process. The linked thread shows firmware version 18. This version, or version 24, the final build, will do just fine.
After you download the two zipped files and unzip them, follow the directions in the thread. Once done, be sure to slide the switch back to the left, or the player will be locked.
