After draging & dropping music into the Sansa how do you get it to play in the order that you want. Even though they were numbered they loaded & play in a random order. I do have shuffle off. They are playout of sequence.
If you are talking about playing an album in track number order, it depends on the Track tag. Make sure your Track tags are correctly populated.
I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean by correctly populated. Right now the songs are showing up in alpa order & I’m trying to get them to show up in numerical order.
The Clip (and pretty much all portable players) rely on the tag information (artist, album, title, genre, year, etc.) embedded in the music files. Your files must be missing the track number tag. If the track tag is missing, the Clip will fall back on the title tag. And if that’s missing, the file name. It sounds like your files are sorting by title, which most likely means the track tag is missing/blank.
MP3Tag is probably the best free tool for manging your tag info. Just install it, point it to your music files, and you’ll be able to update your tags.
I’ve opened the songs in Winamp & each song has a ID3v2 Tag#. Is that the number you are refering to. If so, it seems that they do have a number but the Clip is not listing them by that number. When I look in the Clip I go to Music/Songs. There is the list of songs but in alpha order, not in number order as listed on the song and as listed in the ID tag. I did download Mp3tag, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to change when I load in a song because the information all seems to be there.

Ah, that might be expected behavior. I don’t have mine with me right now to try it out, but it would make sense that Title order would be the most useful if you are trying to find a particular song. I don’t really use that mode so I’m not sure off the top of my head.
The Track tag might only be used in the Album browse. When you select a specific album, the songs should be in Track order.

You are right. Under Albums they are listed in alpha. Never thought to look there. THANKS!
Sorry. I meant to say, they are listed in numerical order. So you were right. Again, thanks.
