I’m having quite a confusing issue; I’m using a microsd for file storage, and have a rather large album collection. However, even after verifying twice that all of my albums [All either mp3 or AAC formats] are loaded onto the card, the player only lists some of them, even by the same artist! I’ve tried everything I can, but to no avail.
[And I’d also like to point out my frustration at the player for cutting off all of my artist names at 8 characters, as well as not skipping over “The” in the srtist names in its alphabetical list]
The maximum database size supported is a mere 2000 objects for internal memory and 2000 object for external memory. If you have a large album collection it might surpasses this limitation and the Clip Sport won’t show them all in the database view, so that might be worth checking. You should be able to access all the content in folder view though.

That seems like a strange limitation to put on the device, especially since the database is held on an external memory card. Is there any workaround to this? Otherwise, I’ll have to be returning the device.
The database is stored in memory, not on the external storage, which is why you have that limitation. And no I don’t think there will be a way to work around it. If you want to have a lot of files on a player, the sport is not a great choice.
The folder view is an option but unfortunately it lacks some functionality compared to the database view. If your music collections exceeds 2000 objects and you want to have a lot of files on the player, then I agree with Saratoga: The Clip Sport is not the best choice.
The Clip Sport is what it is but has some advantages: Better battery life, bigger screen and big buttons (=easy to skip tracks when it’s attached to your clothes). Personally I use it a lot in the gym and while running and i think it works quite well with those type of activities.
If you want a full-fledged music player take a look at Sandisk Sansa Clip+ and Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip instead. Those are great little players, especially with Rockbox installed.
