AFTER GETTING MY SANSA CLIP AND DOWNLOADING THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE, I THEN SYNCED MY MUSIC TO THE SANSA CLIP, BUT WHEN I PLAY BACK, ALTHOUGH IT LISTS THEM ALL, IT WILL SKIP MANY OF THE SONGS DISPLAYED AS SYNCED. I HAVE MADE SURE THE FILES ARE WMA FILES AND HAVE TRIED THIS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IT ALWAYS DOES THE SAME THING. WHY DOES IT LIST THEM AND SAY THEY ARE SYNCED BUT THEN WILL NOT PLAY THEM????
Turn off Caps Lock. It looks like you’re SHOUTING.
And you should repost this on the Sansa Clip board. This is off-topic, this board is for meant for announcements.
THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE CORRECT BOARD. THE CAP LOCKS ARE BECAUSE SOME OF US ARE NOT AS SIGHTFUL AS OTHERS AND ARE A LITTLE FUTHER FROM THE BOARD TO SEE WELL. FORGIVE ME FOR BEING SO RUDE.

Thanks Bob for your help on the font situation. I am still trying to find out why my files will not play even though they say they are synced and they are listed and they are wma files. i can record them onto a cd and play back but can not get the sansa clip 2 Gig to play them. any ideas??

Maybe you inadvertently ripped them in WMA PRO or LOSSLESS format. The Sansas will read not those formats; only plain WMA.
You wouldn’t be the first to experience this. It can be confusing as the PRO & LOSSLESS formats also use the .wma extension. Check your ‘rip’ settings in Windows Media Player under Tools > Options > Rip Music tab.
Thanks for the suggestion but i have checked and they are in WMA format. i can burn them to disk and play them, but can not burn them to my Sansa Clip 2 Gig and have them play. I have checked everything I know and can not figure this one out just yet.
What I am saying is that there are 3 WMA formats . . . and they all use the .wma extension. The Sansas will recognize and play only 1 of them. That’s why I suggested checking your rip settings in WMP. Only then can you tell which format you are ripping in (WMA regular, WMA Pro, or WMA Lossless).
Thanks. Yes I know that and have checked to make sure it is in the proper format. It is in “Windows Media Audio” format for ripping. Like I say, something little I don’t know’ I am sure, but just what I don’t know. Thanks for your help with this problem.
Well, if you are sure they are in regular ‘ol .wma format and nuthin’ fancy, then the only other thing I can suggest is maybe they’re ripped in too high of a bit-rate? What bit-rate (kbps) did you use?
They may be protected and the Clip is skipping them because the license has expired. The default setting in WMP is to create protected WMA files.

Good point! Make sure the ‘Copy Protect’ option in un-ticked in the rip settings.
Thanks gwk , for thinking of this!
Thanks for the input, but I have already made sure that the files were not copy protected when they were installed and have since loaded these files onto a blank cd several times without any problems in playback. It is just insane to have this much trouble out of a little device but it is whooping my -----. All files are in the WMA format, not copy protected and I have made other copies several times before with out any problems at all.
Thanks for all of the help guys. The bit rate was the answer. I had it set for highest quality and the Sansa Clip 2 Gig just could not handle that rate. I will have to rerip all of my music files at a lower bit rate. Again thanks for all the info.

That makes sense…highest quality is 355kbps, right? A suggestion…if you’re going to use the WMA, at least use the VBR option. The 135-215 setting will sound very good and save space too.
