The USB has suddenly stopped working
I plugged in and it is initially recognised showing the files that are on it
But the stops , and get the message that it could not be recognised and disappears from “my Pc”
Some valuable files that I need to get
Have tried it in another laptop and the same thing happens
Any help advice would be greatly appreciated
I understand how frustrating it can be when you want to access your important files and you come across such an issue. As you have already tried on different computers that means trying on different ports may not change anything, but if you want you can once again do that.
You can check Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on Mac and see if the drive shows up there. Sometimes a simple assignment of a drive letter can solve the problem. If your problems continue you can consider using data recovery software like Stellar Data Recovery software, Recuva, EaseUS, etc. These tools can recover data from problematic drives and are user-friendly too.
Thank you for your answer
I have tried Stellar disc recovery but because the USB drive is not visable all the time and soon disappears Stellar could not find it , although for the brief period it was Stellar did seem to be loading info from the drive
The USB is always plugged into the laptop and this issue seemed to have started when I transferred a large folder across to it last week
I do wonder if the USB drive contacts have overheated and just need a clean
The main issue you are going through is the detectability of the flash drive. Stellar Data Recovery offers you the choice to save the scan result. By saving the results received for the duration of the disk test, you may be able to get back your data. If the problem persists with this SanDisk, you should get in touch with the support team for a replacement.
Sadly not . I contacted the Western Digital helpline and to honest they were not much help
Someone mentioned here about the “partitioning” has mucked up
I am assuming that this is the cause.
Just very upsetting as the reason I put stuff on the USB Flash drive was because a laptop went bang and a lot of files were difficult to get off it
Very upsetting because the photos are of my granddaughter
There is a problem with the USB drive. You can consider professional data recovery services to recover the lost data.
I’ve encountered a similar issue where a USB drive intermittently fails. It’s possible that the drive has physical damage or corruption. First, try EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to scan the drive and recover your files. Another effective tool is Recuva, which can help retrieve files from failing drives. If the drive is still intermittently recognized, you might need to use DiskInternals Partition Recovery to address potential partition issues. It’s crucial to recover your files as soon as possible to prevent further data loss.
