You can’t.

It’s not a case of downgrading. The firmware is different because the internal hardware is different.

There are 2 sets of internal hardware in the Fuze. Thus the V.1 and V.2 Fuzes. If you have a V.2 you cannot put a V.1 firmware on it and vise versa. So as a V.2 owner you cannot rockbox. The V.1 and V.2 are identical in terms of operation so going from a V.1 to V.2 is not an upgrade or downgrade. As for downgrading you can do that you just have to install an older firmware on it.
whats the download?

Yea you mentioned about installing an older firmware. After updating it, a slotRadio shows up and i cant really do anything with it. I thought updating would be a good thing.
yea i did that and changed it to world. the icon is still there. but i got some extra stuff in the system. DID.bin, MTABLE.SYS, RES_INFO.SYS, SYS_CONF.SYS, version.sdk and VIDEO_BM.SYS. i dont remember these files until i updated it. so can i delete them or what should i do? and what about installing an older firmware?

No, you don’t want to delete these files . . . unless you want a nice shiny paperweight.
what about installing an older firmware? nobody answered that question yet…

Sure, that can be done. The older firmware versions are around here on the forum. Unfortunately, they’re not ‘stickied’ anymore, so you’ll have to ferret them out using the search box.
so what should i type? older firmware?
Just search for Fuze Firmware update . you will still have to dig thru those for the right one but I can tell you this. It will have been posted by Slotmonsta.
If you do rollback to a previous firmware version, be sure to read what the bug fixes are. The last one, xx.xx.28, messed up replay gain for v2 fuzes, but fixed the video glitch. Another firmware fixed the sudden jump in volume a few users were experiencing. I think the xx.xx.26 introduced the slotradio feature, but didn’t include the icon unless a slotradio card was inserted. While the icon is something you don’t want, you could be trading not having the icon for a buggy feature. I’ve found the lastest firmware to be stable and am very pleased with it.

Okay, I am having a Dennis Miller moment here. Am I the only one here that thinks the hubbub over the wee red SR icon versus having an improved and stable Fuze is like standing in the potato line in the hope that Brezhnev will float up from the dead and give you an iPad?
I mean really, does floating around mesmerized with the red icon bring up fears of epilepsy while staring at the main menu rolling around or make us pant like a prize bull staring at the matador’s red cloak? I don’t know about you, but I am thankful that I’m not staring at a rolling treasure chest icon, breathlessly anticipating the moment when my machine will simply start, much less hobbling my device to make my Fuze’s Feng Shui a wee bit more palatable.
Ah, that’s better. Get those earbuds on, and spend some time with “now playing” showing on that screen.
