again, the v1 and v2 have different hardware so the firmware is not cross-compatible

if it says only .mi4 files you are in MTP mode.
You Can do three things(pick one)

  1. Use the Sansa Firmware Updater
  2. Use MSC mode Go to Settings>USB mode and select MSC or hold down the |<< button as you plug the Sansa in. the sansa should get assigned a drive letter like any old USB flash drive but any music put on in MTP mode will not be visible and vice versa
  3. rename it to .mi4, put it on the player, and then name it back to .bin
