The right arrow displays; but the progress bar does not move (the song does not play). This happens with my music selections and songs from the slot radio card. The FM radio does play.

Haven’t the foggiest what might be going on. You might want to try a reset (hold the on switch down for 20-30 seconds) or reapplying the firmware. You also could try a System Settings reformat (but note, that will erase your content on the Clip).
That is indeed a puzzler; not playing from either your own loaded songs or the SlotRadio card. I think this calls for a conversation with STS (SanDisk Tech Support); it may be hardware-related and therefore covered under the warranty.
