We gave my son a sansa clip for his birthday in December and he has loved it! So have we. We also purchased two others for our twin daughters for their January birthday as well. Anyway, my son’s is charged up to capacity. The display is working great. However, it just won’t play. When we click play, it will change from the pause icon to the play icon, but it won’t actually start the song counter…does that make sense? We love these and I want him to be able to use it for more than 2 months!
Any suggestions would be eternally appreciated.

Some things to try:
Be sure the volume is up, and not turned all the way down.
Try advancing to the next song, double clicking the right arrow side of the wheel >> It’s possible it’s something with the song.
Try Deleting the one song. Click Down then select delete. and delete the song that won’t play.
Try Soft Resetting the player. hold the on switch in the upmost position for 20 seconds. This will turn the player off. Then release the on switch and turn it back on like normal. Then try playing a song.
When all else fails: Format the Clip, this will erase all the music. Click small menu button, goto Settings > Format > yes. Then turn it off and connect it to the computer , reload the music and test.
If this fails: Then reload the firmware. See the thread at the top of this forum. (You might want to update the firmware if its older , check the version numbers).
My Clips have been trouble free, and very dependable.
Let us know how things go,
Cheers
Two other things to check, I just thought of:
Be sure the earphones are plugged all the way in.
Check with a different set of headphones to be sure its nothing to do with the headphones themselves.
Cheers,
I had this same problem I had to update the firmware. Now all works great again. Thanks for the help.
