Sansa Clip shutting down in the middle of playlist

I can vouch for problems expereinced with dry solder joints between the 3 battery wires and the main board on my clip+ purchased only 4 months ago. The player would shut down unexpectidly or cycle on and off on it’s own. Sometimes it was impossible to turn the player off using the power button after turning on. And eventually the player stopped working altogether. All these issues were cleared up when I cracked the case open and resoldered the battery leads to the board. I could see immediateley on inspection that the joints were very delicate and I could pull 2 of the 3 leads away from the board with very little pulling force.

After resoldering all 3 wires with much more robust joints the player now finally operates like a champ. It powers on and off correctly using the power button with no unexpected shut downs to date.

It’s def a common issue because another family member has the same clip+ as me and her player is occassionally shutting down and requiring a hard reset to wake it up again. It’s only happened twice in several months to her so I won’t bother trying to resolder hers unless the unexpected shut downs become more chronic.

Probably best to start your own thread, rather than plopping down an off-topic comment in the middle of someone else’s thread . . . .

Maybe the mod on the forum will do this? I mean, that is part of their job, isn’t it?
