Sansa Clip+ problems

Thanks for all the helpful info.I really appreciate all of your help.I just tried the Hidden Cleaner App.It started, then stopped leaving about half the folders without modifying them,(which is the only way I can tell that anything was done.)

Maybe the App only cleans the ones’ that need it,and leaves the others,or for some reason it just stopped working,I don’t know.

I don’t think the problems that I’m having have anything to do with my MAC,as prior to these odd problems starting I could copy whatever I wanted and everything played OK.

I noticed that the icons for my “unworking” MP3’s look different than the "working"ones.I thought that this may mean that the files are different types but they all appear to be of decent size and the correct type.

Here’s where it gets weird;I’ll open a folder and some of the MP3 icons will look different than the others. One set of icons will play, the other will not.

Then,if I close the folder and open it again, some of the icons that weren’t playing before will have now changed into the other “working” icons and will now play!

That makes me think that all the MP3’s on my player are basically “good”,but at different times the files will just randomly quit playing, then start playing again later.

I’m having no problems with the internal memory of the player. All the files play from that since I updated the Firmware. It’s the files on the external 32 GB card I’m having problems with. It’s a cheap card I got off of eBay,but it is also the same manufacturer as my last card that played files fine.

I’m thinking of installing Rockbox on my player to see if it will help, but I have a question;will installing Rockbox void the warranty of my player?

I ask because I’m thinking that I may have to use my extended warranty if this problem persists.

I am using my MacMini to manage my Clip Sport, so I am following your messages about your Clip+.

I have  only been using 16 GB micro SD cards since the Clip Sport maxes out with 4000 files in the Music database mode.

I am wondering if maybe you are trying to copy too many files at once?

I notice with my Mac and ClipSport it takes like 5 secs to transfer one mp3 file to the player.

I am guessing the extra time is because the Mac is creating the extra “._xxx.mp3” files (ghost files?  or admin files?).

Maybe try just copying one or two new folders at a time and see if the Clip+ is still happy with these?

I started using the Hidden Cleaner Improved app (HiM) to delete these extra ghost files, one folder at a time.

The app creates a log you can display to learn what the app accomplished.

Cheap card on Ebay. Alarm bells.

Does your Mac have some kind of disc-checking utility? Card could be defective if files are switching around like that.

Worse, flash cards are often counterfeited.

Make sure you have copies of all your music somewhere other than the card, because to test it you’re going to have to overwrite it.

Borrow someone’s PC again and get H2testw

Run it and see what it tells you about the card.

Also, you should get rid of all the Mac “finder” files that are 0kb and start with ._ and end with mp3. There aren’t good ones and bad ones. The Sansa doesn’t know what to do with any of them.

You could sort by size and get rid of all the 0kb ones. You can also delete (from the Sansa, not your Mac) any folders labeled MACOSX, which is where those finder files usually are.
