How to repair? Is this product real? Have been using this SD card for a few years inside a Nintendo Switch, and suddenly it failed today when I downloaded a new game. Tried formatting, can’t be formatted (using Windows built-in disk management, even EaseUS), tried deleting volume, etc all failed.
Perform a low-level format using the official SD Memory Card Formatter tool from the SD Card Association. If this fails, it indicates that the card is physically damaged and needs to be replaced.
First, check if it’s real with SanDisk’s official verification tool; if it’s fake, just replace it. If it’s genuine, run SanDisk’s RescuePRO to recover data, then use their SD Card Formatter tool to low-level format it—if that still fails, the card’s dead and you need a new one.
This usually isn’t something you can “repair,” unfortunately. What you’re describing, can’t format, can’t delete volume, tools failing, is a very common sign that the SD card has gone into a read-only / failure mode.
When SD cards start failing, their controller often locks them to prevent further damage, so you can still detect it, but you can’t write, format, or erase anything.
As for authenticity, it might still be genuine. Even original cards can fail after a few years of use, especially in devices like the Nintendo Switch that constantly read/write data.
You can try one last thing:
Use Diskpart → attributes disk clear readonly
If that doesn’t work, the card is effectively dead and cannot be fixed. At that point, replacement is the only real solution.
