SanDisk Extreme V2 1TB External 1050 MB/s SSD slow writing speed

Hello. I have SanDisk Extreme V2 1TB External SSD which was advertised as having a 1050MB/s writing speed. My motherboard has a USB-C 3.2 gen 2 port and I am using a 40 gbit/s cable so theoretically i should be getting the optimum speed or at least about that. However I am averaging about 500MB/s with occasional peaks at 700MB/s. Is there something i can do to correct this

I think you may take the following factors into consideration:

1. File Size and Type: SSDs perform better with larger files. When transferring many small files, the write speed can be slower compared to transferring a few large files. Try copying a large video or game file to see if the speeds improve.

2. Check SSD Health: It’s important to monitor the health of your SSD, as wear and tear over time can affect performance. Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo (on Windows) or Smartmontools (on macOS/Linux) to check the drive’s health and remaining lifespan.

3. Free Space on SSD: SSDs tend to slow down when they’re near full capacity. To maintain optimal performance, keep around 10-20% of the drive free. This helps with wear leveling and ensures the SSD has enough space to manage data efficiently.

4.Background Processes and CPU Usage: High CPU usage from background processes can impact the speed of file transfers to the SSD. Close unnecessary applications or processes to free up system resources and improve transfer speeds.
