If I put Rockbox on my sansa e250 v2, how will it affect it? will i be able to put the original sansa firmware back on my player without affecting my data?
It shouldn’t affect your files at all, and the original firmware will remain on the player side-by-side with Rockbox. The RB installation procedure creates a “dual-boot” configuration. By default, the player will boot into Rockbox, but you can choose to boot into the OF by holding Rewind ( |<< ) as the e200 starts up. It’s also possible to make the original firmware the default with a “reverse bootloader”, but I don’t know how that’s done. Someone else can probably point you to the instructions for that.
thanks, but the rockbox manual said something about permanent inability to playback files with DRM. would that be a problem?

Only if you’re stuck with DRM-crippled files. And that’s only a ‘maybe’.
