Replacing SanDisk Extreme SSD With Another Brand

I just recently purchased two Extreme SSDs (2TB and 4TB) DE61 on the strength of the sales levels (9K + in last month) and 70,000+ comments and high star rating on the Amazon website. It was only after I acquired these drives and transferred data to them did I learn about the manufacturing defects associated with these drives. Disk failure and data loss within days / weeks / months of purchase is simply not acceptable. I have decided to “eat the financial loss” of the purchases and to replace both these drives with a competitor’s product which has much better reliability / durability ratings. I also read the most recent court decision I could find online about the partial granting / denial of SanDisk’s Motion to Dismiss the case in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. I think it is tragic when a company will not recall a defective product and work to produce something superior in quality. I would be interested to hear who has made a similarly painful and expensive decision in an attempt to protect their data. As far as I am concerned, in this day and age, products like this should be made “to last a lifetime”. Natural resources are becoming “precious and few” and are not to be wasted.
