Hi, a member asked hereif Sansa clip will have RDS function, Miikerman seem to reply yes, but not sure if he replied to this question or another one the man asked, so to be clear does our Fantastic little monster Sansa Clip + gonna have RDS function on a futur firmware update ? (RDS let European users read which station we listen rather then 103,7…)
Second little suggestion, you programer of Sansa Clip +, do you think it’s possible in a futur firmware update to have the possibility to move backward when we zap from one radio station to another one (rather then just forward using “select” button) somehing like “home” + “select” button or whatever combination button ?
Hi, a member asked hereif Sansa clip will have RDS function,
I don’t think that can be done without a hardware change. THe FM radio is pretty much all on a chip, and I don’t think there is any firmware updating for that.
What you can hope and ask for is support for channel preset files that display the station name. WIth Rockbox (and some other MFR’s original firmware) the presets can be edited on your PC, or downloaded from the internet for various cities.
Adding RDS functionality requires a different FM chip than the device currently used. It’s nice to see this information, as long as the broadcaster implements it properly.
Did knew Rockbox, i just check a little on wikipedia, they say it’s compatible with Sansa Fuze, is it with Sansa clip + ?too how can i use it ?
Thank’s for you reply

About second part of my question : do you think it’s possible in a futur to have the possibility to move backward when we zap from one radio station to another one (rather then just forward using “select” button) somehing like “home” + “select” button or whatever combination button ?

Possible? Probably.
Will it happen? Who knows? The economy as hurt SanDisk as much (or more) than anyone else and they’re running a reduced work-force, so all I would expect in the near future in the way of firmware updates is minimal effort; fixing the bugs. I doubt we see too many enhancements or new features added for a while (if ever).
Hope you’ll be better in the futur, you job deserve it, you product should be more know, i talk about my new Sansa clip + here in France with my friends, nobody even new the label… (Sansa, they just knew Sandisk) many of them love the freedom this mp3 player have compare to the iPod

What??? Sandisk is doing well now. They are quite profitable now. Sandisk stock has gone from a low of around $5 around 14 months ago to $30 today. Flash memory prices also seem to have stabilized around a year ago, and may have even gone up slightly since then.
Oh yeah, it’s SNDK on NASDAQ, baby. Things are improving this new year. Check it out(the link will run to the current ticker, so the values may change when you run into this post in 2012. Today, SNDK is UP 1.40 (4.83%) at 30.39 today.
