i need some real help …this thing is driving me crazy. When i transfer music files to my clip, it plays for 5 seconds and then stops, or jumps around like a mad thing, or i get a really odd noise like its playing 2 songs at once. it doesn’t seem to be transferring the songs correctly. Music plays fine on my laptop and have tried any number of firmware updates, resets and formatting…nothing works!
I’ve dragged and dropped, synced it with media player (running windows 8 …hate the bloody thing) and cut and pasted. all to no avail.
What format are your songs in? The Sandisk players don’t support WMA lossless, just regular WMA. Are your files protected? If so, you need to transfer them to the player in MTP mode using a media player such as Windows Media Player to transfer the licenses.
You could try downloading the firmware and manually installing it. Sometimes the firmware in the player becomes corrupted. Is your player the original Clip without a card slot, or is it a Clip+ or Clip Zip?
ive done the firmware thing. Its the one with the clip so its a clip + .
I’ve checked the files and the properties say MP3? 247 Kbps is the bit rate…not sure if there is a transfer setting that i’m missing. Sandisk aren’t being much help either… :/
Your player has a card slot? How long have you had it? If reloading the firmware doesn’t help, the next thing you could try is formatting the player using the player’s menu, which deletes all the songs on the player. Next connect the player and transfer just a few songs that play okay on your pc. See if these play okay on the player. If not, then the player might have a hardware problem.

FYI, all three of the Sansa Clip variants (original, Clip+ & Clip Zip) have a clip on the back.
247kbps sounds like a weird rip setting, unless it’s a VBR (variable bit-rate) in which case that would probably be an average. Normally they’re set rates like 128kbps, 192kbps, 256kbps, 320kbps, etc.
agreed… and if i have the same issue with the next one i’ll know its something along those lines and i’ll be back! god willing its not user error… that would be embarrassing! x
