possible fuze clock radio accessory for $29 @ buy.com

the buy.com description says it’s for the e200 and c200 series but that dock looks like it’s probably compatible with the fuze too…

i’m not in the market but thought i’d share in case others are…

Notice though that the connector is centered in the slot/receptacle for the device. The connector port on the bottom of the ‘E’ & ‘C’ models in the middle of the device as this is, but the Fuze’s port is offset to accomodate the headphone jack alongside it.

The slot that the device fits into does look wider than either the ‘C’ or ‘E’ series, so there may be some ‘wiggle-room’ there to accept the Fuze. It’s impossible to tell from looking at the picture though.

So while the connection will work and it should play fine, it may not physically fit! Otherwise, it looks like a fine unit and an excellent price.

EDIT: After looking at this a bit more, the Features list an Aux/MP3 line-in to connect other Sansa players or audio players so the Fuze indeed could be plugged in this way if it does not fit in the receptacle on top. Although that kind of defeats the purpose of buying this product in the first place.

On the other hand, the unit itself features an AM/FM radio, so the FM radio function on the player would not be necessary, and apparently you cannot set the alarm to play the Sansa upon wake-up or use it with the adjustable sleep timer, so I have to wonder about the product’s usefulness in totality.

Yes, it will play and charge the Sansa, but not as an alarm clock, as these functions are not supported. You can’t wake up listening to your Sansa, nor can you go to sleep listening to it, so what good is it? I doubt the on-board speakers are going to sound very good (most clock radios sound pretty crappy), and you can certainly spend less on an AC charger if you don’t want to, or can’t use a computer for this.

And there are certainly less bulky AM/FM clock radios you can buy if the Sansa player is not in the equation, and according to the description, it seems it is not really at the forefront of the functions. It’s just a tall clock radio that you can plug your Sansa into to charge and listen too, I guess while you’re getting dressed in the morning?

On 2nd look, I’d give it a ‘thumbs-up’ for appearance, but a ‘thumbs-down’ for design functionality & practicality.
