Passport External HD Corrupt - cannot retrieve files

I have backed up my old laptop to my Passport Elite 250 and now when connecting to new laptop via USB to restore files - get message that files are all corrupt and not accessible. I am out of warranty on the WD. Does WD make a tool to assist with restoring files? I see there are some options on the internet like: easeus, recoverit - but hesitate to d/l these, since they are not WD tools. I can’t find any on their site and the wait time for support is 6 hours…
Suggestions?

Hello,

Please refer to the following KBA article; Cannot Find My WD Drive on Windows or macOS

Hi,

To recover data from a corrupted drive you might need the help of reliable data recovery software and there is no harm in using a data recovery software but only if it’s a trustworthy tool. You’re right there are many options like Easeus, Recoverit, and so on, however, I will recommend you to try Stellar Data Recovery software that will help you recover data from corrupted drive without much hassle.

You can also try the Stellar Data Recovery Free Edition to scan your drive and check the result if the software able to retrieve your drive’s data or not. The free edition allows the users to recover up to 1 GB of data totally free of cost.

Hope it will help!

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I will give that a try.

After emailing your team, I started up my Laptop which is an HP pavilion, and it started check disc on the external drive so I let it run. It retrieved most of the data which was very interesting. But I will also try your recommended software and see if I can get the balance of what is missing thank you so much
